10 days of bike fun starts today with Cyclepalooza
Starting today Friday, July 13 through to Sunday, July 22, Calgary will host 10 days of bike fun during the 8th Annual Cyclepalooza. Events happening throughout the festival are run by passionate individuals, groups and businesses with the Cyclepalooza calendar serving to advertise these events. Depending on the ride topic/theme of interest, rides may be free or have small costs associated with them, and may be all ages or 18+ only.
Everyone’s invited to participate in these rides, most rides accommodate all skill levels and riding types unless specified.
If you don’t see something that tickles your fancy, or think that would be a good contribution, host a ride, and invite others to join you by going to the Festival Calendar at cyclepalooza.ca with pointer for creating a ride: cyclepalooza.ca/the-ride-guide or https://twitter.com/Cyclepalooza/status/1017842379611443201
Three standout rides happening are the $35 Ice Cream Ride Bicycle Tour hosted by Reworks Upcycle Shop and Sagebrush Tours happening Friday, July 20th at 6pm that travels to three separate ice cream shops; the Warrior Ride hosted by Your Yoga Collective on Thursday, July 19 at 6:30pm that combines a bike ride with a free all-ages yoga class in Murdoch Park; and the En Blanc à Vélo happening on the last day of the festival (Sunday, July 22 at 12:00pm) where you go on a picnic via bike dressed all in white.
The festival calendar is dynamic year to year, so check back to see what rides are on, lots of great variety.
The 10 day festival culminates in Bike Prom on Saturday, July 21, the annual promenade through the streets of Calgary where anyone can join wearing their finest (or most fun) attire -- additional bike decoration encouraged. The route ends at McHugh House where cyclists can purchase food from La Piada food truck, and coffee from Kaffeeklatsch. Those who are interested in the Bike Prom after-party will need to sign up for a *FREE* membership to garner an invitation and more information about the event via cyclepalooza.ca/membership.
Not familiar with Cyclepalooza…..
Cyclepalooza is a volunteer-directed, community-based, bicycle-themed festival promoting arts, culture, events, and fun in and around Calgary. It was formed out of the desire among Calgary area cyclists to bring more publicity and interest to cycling and its positive impacts on communities, and to bring communities together through cycling.
