Submitted by ride on Sun, 2009-08-23 10:33BikeCalgary hits the street during the Bow River Flow. Did you get out and enjoy the event? Four of the seven BikeCalgary directors were at our tent during various parts of the day, talking to hundreds of people about bike advocacy in Calgary. Surprisingly, many passers-by saw "bike" and "calgary" and then immediately asked "do you have any bikepath maps?". And equally surprisingly, we did!

During the event, we also chatted with three aldermen (Joe Ceci, Druh Farrell, Brian Pincott) and one MLA (David Swann, a regular bike-commuter himself). Ric McIver was a no-show. We also had an opportunity to talk to several staffers from Transportation Solutions, the City group responsible for 'active transportation'.

best Critical Mass of the year, with workshop and party
Submitted by carsharecalgary on Mon, 2009-07-27 12:09
If there is one Critical Mass event to make this year, the July event would be it!
Not only is the July event the best-attended Critical Mass of the year historically, there are also two events combined with it this month. MST's Ride On! bike arts festival wraps up with the Critical Mass event and The Good Life Community Bicycle Shop is also celebrating their 1st anniversary after the ride!
For more info, go to the Meetup.com event listing, or the Goodlife Bikes website calendar.

BikeCalgary spoke cards
Submitted by ride on Wed, 2009-07-15 09:08Now available, BikeCalgary spoke cards! Slip one (or two!) of these into your spokes and kill two birds with one stone: let people know you support BikeCalgary, and that your bike is one less car. These are high-quality, two-sided cards that have been protected with heavy-weight 5mm laminate so they'll last for years in the rain and snow. Suggested usage: slip between spokes so that the ONE LESS CAR message is on the left side, where it can be seen by other roadway users.
