Bike Calgary would like to invite you to join us for our 2013 Annual General Meeting, to be held Tuesday, September 24, 2013, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm in the Common Room at the Community Wise Centre at 223 - 12th Avenue SW in Calgary, Alberta.
We are beginning to see movement towards Calgary becoming a more cycling friendly city. This includes hiring dedicated staff into the cycling portfolio, ongoing development of the Centre City cycle track network, with the first Centre City cycle track opened in July of this year, plans to improve existing cycling facilities to better serve the end user, movement towards developing stricter policies to prevent misuse of bicycle lanes and a commitment to improve snow and ice control for cyclists. Of course we still have a long ways to go, both in developing a city-wide bicycle network of pathways and bikeways that provides safe and efficient travel for cyclists on a year-round basis and in selling cycling as a legitimate and reliable means of transportation to Calgary’s broader population.
As part of our AGM Bike Calgary will review some of the projects we have been working on in the past year to help improve Calgary’s cycling environment as well as identify some of the key items on the horizon that will help define our transportation choice going forward, including giving you ideas on how you can help. We will then pause for the official business, including a review of our financial statements and a vote for the election of new Directors. Following the official business, we will take a short break prior to reconvening for a special guest presentation by Calgary’s Active Transportation Education Specialist, Katherine Glowacz.
Please note, if you are a member of Bike Calgary and interested in helping out in a leadership role, you may put your name forth as a nominee for the Board of Directors (email to: email@example.com) no later than the end of day Friday, September 20th, 2013.
