Rather than send our own list of questions to the candidates for city council, we've just contributed a few of them to a general survey done by Calgarians for Transportation Choice. C4CT is a coalition of several Calgary non-profit organizations interested in traffic safety, walkability, and active transportation.
Responses received are posted on their website, sorted by ward, and include responses to questions for schoolboard trustees as well as mayor and council election candidates. Bike Calgary thanks all the candidates for their interest in the transportation concerns of all Calgarians, expecially of those who'd like to get around Calgary by bicycle safely and efficiently. Feel free to discuss candidate's responses here or in the comments on the C4TC website.
TransitCamp YYC, a member of C4TC, has sent a separate survey, and has teamed up with Metro Calgary to present candidate responses pertaining specifically to public transit. You may want to check out their coverage of transportation issues in the election as well.
Please inform yourself about where your candidates stand on issues important to you. Contact information for candidates is collected by Calgary Democracy. The City of Calgary is providing opportunities for voting prior to election day (October 21) in several advance polling stations which opened today and even a new vote bus! CivicCamp is organizing candidate forums in all wards, several are still coming up, and those that have taken place already are archived for your viewing pleasure. If you'd rather listen to the forum audio only, download it from CJSW.
